History

Bay Drapery Hardware was founded in 1991 by Don Munson. Don began his career with Kirsch in 1955 and managed the Kirsch Hayward, California, distribution center until its closure in 1991. After 38 years of working for Kirsch, Don began a new career as a small Kirsch Distributor in Northern California. In 1995, Dave and Julie Diehl (Don’s daughter) joined the company and then bought it three years later. Through the efforts of Don, Dave and Julie, Bay Drapery Hardware grew into the largest single Kirsch distributor in the Western United States, and today is still family owned and operated.

The dynamics of the drapery hardware industry have changed over the past decade. Product life cycles that were as long as six years are now as short as one to two years. Fulfilling orders quickly, efficiently and affordably became paramount, and technology made it possible. Over the last 10 years, every major hardware manufacturer has or considered developing custom drapery hardware lines. Reduced overseas production costs, access to European products, and savvy consumers have driven the industry to continually develop new and unique products. Good for the industry yet a stocking distributor’s nightmare.

An Industry First
After years of agonizing over every screw, bolt and bracket, we, at Bay Drapery Hardware, closed our brick-and-mortar facility, embraced new and innovative technology, and applied our combined 69 years of drapery hardware experience. The result is the first and only multi-vendor, wholesale website in the industry. BAYDRAPERY.COM is designed to enable designers to quickly and efficiently make informed decisions, search through large amounts of product, or simply browse, if you like. We recognize the need to be agile and to provide new products, styles, designs and colors that meet the high standards our customers expect and deserve. We also deliver tried-and-true products that have enduring features and lasting quality.

We offer a broad range of product types, from standard to contemporary to eclectic — all on one site! We sell at suggested wholesale pricing — to the trade. We have several solid lines, some of which are very price-sensitive, but all offer the best service and quality in the industry. Over the next several months we will continue to add more and more product lines. We will also provide the tools — price lists, sampling, and catalogs from the website — to give our customers one big advantage. You will always have the most current pricing available.

Motorization
Besides specializing in drapery hardware over the last 17 years we have also been manufacturing motorized window treatment systems and preparing for the newest growth segment of our industry.

Motorization and Automation. Fabricating systems for companies, such as Silent Gliss, SM Automatic, Somfy and Makita, has given us a unique perspective into how products operate and the differences between them. We have in-house curving equipment for Silent Gliss motorized drapery systems and motorized vertical systems. Our unique experience enables us to help our customers select the best product for their applications. For a proper evaluation of your project, we will communicate directly with you. Depending on the complexity of your project, we’ll even visit you onsite. Ultimately, our knowledge, expertise and personal involvement will save you time and energy, and ensure that your projects go smoothly.
