As you are probably aware, each manufacture of drapery hardware has its own
established terms under which they conduct business. Due to the unique nature
of our multi-product line website it is impossible to create catchall terms
and conditions that apply to all current and future product lines. As such let
us first explain generally the industry standards as a whole:
Order Cancellation
Custom product is considered a non-cancelable item. Once a product is ordered,
even when it may take weeks for the customer to receive, production time and
expense begin. Sanding, ordering components and raw materials, prep work, or
priming begin when the order is placed. There is generally a 24-hour window
of opportunity that, considering time zone differences, orders can be cancelled
without cost. Of course, the way to avoid any problems is be absolutely certain
when you order.
Freight
Our industry is considered one of the more challenging when it comes to freight.
Manufacturers must give extra consideration to packing materials, boxes, and
even which freight line to use. To top it off the cost of transportation has
gone up quickly and will continue to. Knowing all this we have attempted to
set a fixed rate for both UPS and Truck shipping. We want our website to be
convenient and predictable so we are taking a chance. Our estimates are on
the low side but we are willing to accept some of the cost if, in the long
run, our customers know that we are trying our best to assist them in both
convenience and by simplifying the process.
Damaged Freight
Inevitably if products are shipped, there will be a time when something gets
damaged. As far as a shipper is concerned there is also an acceptable window
of opportunity to make a claim for the damage with the offending shipping company.
Of course the shipping company is not interested in paying for such claims even
when it is there fault. Therefore, there are two rules of thumb: 1. If the shipment
is obviously damaged- DON'T ACCEPT DAMAGED BOXES. 2. Inspect your shipment immediately.
Claims must be made within 14 days of receipt and keep all of the original packaging
in case the shipping company requires an inspection of the damage.
Returns
Only items damaged or those not matching written orders are returnable- WITHIN
14 DAYS- and only with prior approval. There is also a 25% restocking charge
on returns from most manufacturers.
Color Variances
There can and will be variations in color. Not only are products hand painted
but materials composition are often different on finials, poles, rings, brackets,
etc. To avoid any surprises, purchase sample books, rings, or displays once
you have determined that you have found a particular product line that will
meet your ongoing needs. Literature is OK but there is nothing like a hand
sample. Also, keep your samples fresh. If you like to put your wood ring sample
in the back window of your car and you live in Arizona there just may be some
color differences over time.
